Etihad Airways appoints Okoromu to head operation in Nigeria
Etihad Airways, has announced the appointment of Mr. Ailende Okoromu as its new General Manager in Nigeria. Okoromu returns to Nigeria from Tanzania where he has been the Country Manager.
A statement by the airline’s media consultant in Nigeria said that Okoromu would oversee all commercial activities in the Nigerian market for the airline.
Okoromu joined the Middle East carrier in 2012 and had held the post of Nigeria Sales Manager before moving to assume the Country Manager’s role in Tanzania. He has considerable experience and knowledge of the African aviation industry, serving business and corporate customers.
Etihad Airways launched in Nigeria in 2012 and flies seven times a week between Lagos and Abu Dhabi.
Okoromu started his professional career with Virgin Nigeria Airways Limited. His career with Virgin Nigeria saw him working in different capacities including Ticketing, Sales and Sales Operations before he left to join Aviareps Nig. Ltd – the global leaders in aviation and tourism representation.
While in Virgin Nigeria he worked closely with the Information Technology, Revenue Management and Pricing, Finance and Commercial/Network Planning Department helping to drive different policies aimed at expansion and increased sales.
In 2010 he joined Aviareps Nigeria where he functioned as the Sales and Marketing Manager working with different airlines (like Afriquiyah airlines, Air Namibia, Jet Airways etc) to boost their revenues through effective sales promotion campaigns. His role also includes helping these airlines to fashion out policies that are geared towards driving sales and capturing significant market shares whether they are online or offline carriers.
Okoromu joined Etihad Airways in 2012 as a Key Account Manager ( a pioneer staff), He rose to the position of Offline Sales Manager for Sub Sahara Africa & Indian Ocean (currently Middle East Africa Indian Ocean & Pakistan) . Where he managed over 60 offline markets scattered around the region.
Okoromu is an Associate Sales Professional holds a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and is a member of numerous professional bodies.
He has also won awards from best adviser in 2016 for 3 consecutive months while with Virgin Nigeria and Winner of Sales Excellence award in 2014 with Etihad airways.
