Domestic Airlines deploy digital platforms to woo passengers

In a bid to win passengers’ patronage in the face of keen competition among domestic airlines in the country, most of them have deployed many mouth-watering incentives such as promos , using the social media platforms to reach out to the public.

MARKETING EDGE in its investigation, gathered that most of the local airlines use the digital platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube amongst others in order to key into the ICT age in reaching out to their customers.

It was also learnt that Arik Air is currently running an online sales promo that will be rounding off this week whereby passengers are wooed with N10,000 and N3,000 discounts on its international and local flights respectively.

Dana Air is not left out in this incentives to woo customers as it has launched “Make A Wish” promo on its social media platforms, just as Air Peace and Medview Airlines still use the same medium to attract more patronages to their airlines.

Speaking on Medview recent departure from the traditional way of wooing passengers to the social media platforms, the firm’s Business Development Manager, Mr. Nsalah Naallah, said that social media platforms has helped in reducing passengers pains, because they now know what to do at any given time at the airport having gotten all relevant information online.

Naallah pointed out that the passengers would have made all the necessary documentation online on the various digital platforms before getting to the airport, adding that, all that was needed was for the passenger to pay at the airline’s counter and get to board his/her flight.

He added: “We are mainly a Facebook social media platform that is very operational where we interact with our esteemed consumers. What we key into majorly is on the Facebook, we get a lot of interactions on Facebook and solves the challenges encountered by our passengers”.

In the same vein, Communication Manager, Dana Airline, Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, said that the airline relates with its numerous passengers through various digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Linkdln, and Twitter.

Ezenwa added that Dana airline was also on Whatsap for guests to interact with the firm, stressing that the digital platforms were veritable avenues for receiving complaints and solving the problems encountered by passengers.

“We are on facebook, Instagram, Linkdln, and Twitter. We also have a Whatsap platform 08077291285 for the passengers and general public to interact with us. These social media sites provide us opportunity of getting feedbacks from our guests to serve them better. They are also platforms where we help solve guest issues on time,” he said.

Dana Air spokesman stressed that the airline often solved the problems encountered by its passengers by immediately responding to such issues online, affirming that the airline makes such quick response because their customers are central to their operations.

According to him, through its digital platforms, Dana Airline churns out promos monthly or quarterly depending on the period and demands of its customers.

“We churn our promos quarterly sometimes monthly depending on the period and demands of our guests. We try our best to respond as fast as possible. We understand that these complaints might need urgent attention so we try as much to respond on time. In all of these, we try as much to put ourselves in the shoes of the customer,” Ezenwa stressed.
