Diageo has appointed Bodam Taiwo, a seasoned Pan-African brand and commercial strategist, to the role of Marketing Director, Africa Partner Markets; a position that spans the company’s diverse portfolio of markets across Africa, excluding Southern Africa.

The appointment, which took effect approximately one month ago, places Taiwo in charge of one of the most geographically expansive and culturally complex briefs in Diageo’s African operations. The role, known internally as Category and Brand Director, Africa Partner Markets, covers a wide collection of markets across the continent, each with distinct consumer behaviour, trade realities, and brand dynamics.

Taiwo brings more than 18 years of experience building and scaling consumer brands across Sub-Saharan Africa. Her career spans senior marketing and commercial leadership roles at Diageo Africa, Pernod Ricard, and Brown-Forman; three of the world’s most significant spirits companies, giving her a rare cross-portfolio perspective on how global brands succeed in African markets without losing local relevance.

Her track record includes delivering 234 per cent growth for the Brown-Forman portfolio in under three years, stewarding the Bond and Connect portfolio at Pernod Ricard across key African markets, and leading the Jameson Distillery on Tour; West Africa’s first immersive distillery experience, which drew over 15,000 registrations and generated more than ₦20 million in direct sales. She has also designed and delivered marketing capability programmes for over 1,500 professionals across multiple countries.

Beyond her corporate work, Taiwo is the founder of The Refined Lady Movement; an initiative dedicated to developing Africa’s next generation of women leaders thought coaching, masterclass, and advisory. She is also the author of three published books, with a fourth, Protocols of the Palace, forthcoming.

Her recognition across the industry includes placement on the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications in 2023, the 50 Most Impactful Voices in Africa in 2023, and the Top 100 Inspiring Women in Africa in 2021.

The appointment reflects Diageo’s continued investment in experienced, Africa-rooted marketing leadership to drive category growth and brand execution across its partner markets on the continent.
