Caritas CEO launches book on PR best practices
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Caritas Communications, Mr. Adedayo Ojo, has launched a book titled:”Public Relations-Thoughts and Deeds” that gives valuable insights regarding the best practices that practitioners should embrace in the industry.
The book which also enables students to explore the world of Public Relations and its evolution, posited that the preponderance of unethical practices in the PR industry was due to the sorry state of the economy.
According to him, the book was an opportunity to pass some vital life lessons from the past, inspire the present and speaks to the future, adding that he was driven by the desire to contribute his quota to the growth of Public Relations.
In his words: “Public Relations –Thoughts and Deeds” is a book which chronicles my journey in public relations and some of the cases that we have handled at Caritas over the last nine and half years.”
“When I set out to write this book, I knew that there were enough books on the subject to fill this hall. Nonetheless, I was driven by a desire to contribute my quota to this great field of human endeavour, from which I and several others have benefitted so much”
Ojo stated that the book was very expedient at this point in time as it is geared towards helping small businesses and well as explain issues to customers, emphasizing that public relations as a profession has become life.
“It is life for small businesses looking to communicate plans and services or explain issues to customers and other stakeholders. It is life to a misunderstood government communicating a major milestone or new policy to millions of people scattered across time zones. It is life to the politician seeking votes from the electorate”
Speaking in the same vein, Mr. Opeyemi Agbaje, who reviewed the book stressed that Public Relations-Though and Deeds is a valuable book to practitioners and students; stressing that the book is a treasure trove for anyone seeking insight into the subject.
Agbaje noted that the book will be useful for students to carry out their research suggesting that copies of the book should be distributed to students of Mass Communication and PR in both tertiary and professional institutions.
