By Abimbola Mohammed

Moses Mogbolu, Products Group Manager, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, has stressed the need for business/ brand owners and marketers to evolve with the consumer and global trends as technology, he argued, has made it easier for brands to sell directly to consumers.

He made this statement at the just concluded MARKETING EDGE Stakeholders’ Quarterly Virtual Summit with the theme, “MAXIMIZING MARKETING EFFICIENCY IN THE AGE OF CHANGING CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR”.

Speaking about the role of technology in bringing brands closer to customers, Mr. Mogbolu said the advent of smart-phone has gone a long way to replace some things that used to be part of consumers’ lifestyle. He mentioned that when people wake up in the morning, the first thing they pick is their smart phone forgetting about the alarm clock, voice recorder, calculator, radio, landlines etc.

“Technology is driving us to an era where we need to evolve with the consumer behaviour, evolve with the consumer trends because the business that exists is the business that understands the need to be proactive. Marketers need to find out how customers define service excellence because it’s all about their satisfaction,” he said.

According to the ace marketer, customers today define service excellence based on friendliness and empathy, they determine if a product is of quality and if a service is of excellence.

“In either product or service business, it’s all about satisfying the customer and this is the advantage that technology has presented to all brand and business owners. Technology helps you to streamline and make your products easily accessible to customers at a greater convenience. Customers want knowledgeable workforce, they want speed and excellent experience, they want brands they can trust, they want consistency, personalization, great mobile experience, and availability,” he stated.

Mogbolu advised brands to have the right marketing roadmap, submitting that, it’s difficult to deliver results without the right roadmap.

“We are in an era where the digital space, coupled with the pandemic, has opened the eyes of consumers. Brands need to evolve with their customers,” he said.
