AMCON takes over OAS Helicopters
The Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has taken over the operations of Odengene Air-Shuttle Services Limited, OAS Helicopters services. AMCON sealed up the firm’s corporate head office at Maryland, Lagos yesterday.
This is coming five days after the organization took over of the operations of Arik Airline on February 9, 2017.
A notice on the wall of OAS Helicopter building reads ‘AMCON, Caveat Emptor, Possession taken by Order of Court’ and ‘Possession taken today, 14/2/17 by AMCON by Court Order on suit No. FHC/4CS/1139/2016’
During the sealing up, law enforcement agencies heavily armed were present, in order to ensure that the management of the organization complied with the court order.
As at the time of filing in this report, effort to find out the reason for the takeover, proved abortive, neither the management of the airline nor officials of AMCON were willing to speak to the press.
OAS is an indigenous aviation company registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on February 4, 1992 and licensed by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to render flight services.
According to the company’s website, the entity’s flight outfit covers two areas of flight activities: rotary and fixed wing.
The rotary wing is operated under OAS Helicopters while the fixed wing is operated as Odengene Air. The helicopter wing of the company (OAS Helicopters) commenced commercial flight in February 2006.
When MARKETING EDGE contacted, the spokesman of AMCON, Mr. Jude Nwafor about the incident, he said he was not aware of the takeover, as it was news to him.
