VP Osinbajo to grace National Advertising Conference
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is among very important dignitaries expected to grace the opening of the National Advertising Conference, the largest gathering of advertising practitioners in Nigeria, slated to hold in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, between November 25th to 27th, 2019.
Also expected to grace the event is Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Running with the theme : “Advertising in the Post-Digital Age: The Profession, The Business and Nigeria Socio-Economic Development”, the three-day conference holding at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja is an initiative of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and it is targeted at raising the professional standing of the advertising practice and to also compel attention of government, business leaders and policy makers as well as the general public to the impact and value of advertising in Nigeria.
Addressing a pre-conference press briefing held at the Lagos Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Acting Registrar of APCON, Mrs. Ijedi Iyoha informed that the conference which is an industry wide initiative was being supported by the leadership of the various sectoral associations making up the advertising and marketing communications industry in Nigeria which include Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), and Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON).
Others include Media Independents Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and the Experiential Marketing Association of Nigeria (EXMAN).
According to the APCON boss, all of these associations have embraced the National Advertising Conference initiative and have their members represented in the conference planning committee which has worked tirelessly to organize the conference.
In her words: “They are all equal stakeholders in the conference and are committed to actualising a national professional conference befitting of the profession of advertising.”
Guided by the conference theme above, the conference will take a long term view of the practice as well as the business of advertising in Nigeria in the light of the digital revolution that has transformed every aspect of life as well as the current challenges of transforming Nigeria’s economy and society.
To give direction to the discussions, a keynote speech will be delivered by Mr Lolu Akinwunmi, who will be drawing from the vantage as Chairman of a leading regional agency brand, Prima Garnet Africa, former Chairman, AAAN and APCON, as well as his wide acceptability across the advertising industry
