Behind every successful dairy brand is a marketing professional who understands how to translate consumer needs into lasting brand loyalty, market relevance and business growth. This, no doubt, has been the driving force behind Chioma Otisi-Igwe’s marketing journey, earning her the prestigious Most Outstanding Dairy Professional of the Year award by Brand Communicator in recognition of her contributions to brand building, consumer engagement and the development of Nigeria’s dairy industry.
The recognition takes on added significance as Otisi-Igwe continues to steer the marketing of Peak at FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, working alongside her team to nurture, strengthen and build on the heritage of one of Nigeria’s most iconic and enduring dairy brands, a responsibility she takes considerable pride in.
In fact, it calls for exceptional marketing insight, strategic depth, creative execution and the ability to preserve its established stature while unlocking new opportunities for growth. For Otisi-Igwe, the new assignment represents both a significant professional responsibility and an opportunity to build on a brand legacy that generations of Nigerians have come to embrace.
Beyond the award, her professional journey reflects more than a decade of experience spanning brand strategy, portfolio management, consumer marketing, product development and commercial execution across the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
Reflecting on the recognition, Otisi-Igwe described the honour as a meaningful reminder of the privilege of working in the dairy industry and the opportunities it presents for creating value and making a difference. She also expressed gratitude for the experiences, achievements and professional relationships that have shaped her career.
Her recognition follows three rewarding years as Marketing Manager, Three Crowns, where she led the brand from August 2023 to November 2026, overseeing marketing initiatives and driving consumer engagement and brand development.
Prior to that assignment, she served as Senior Brand Manager, Ready-to-Drink (RTD), between April 2022 and July 2023, having earlier managed Three Crowns as Brand Manager from April 2020 to April 2022. She began her career with FrieslandCampina WAMCO as Junior Brand Manager, Peak, in September 2016, a position she held until April 2020.
Consequently, her return to Peak as Marketing Manager represents a significant progression within the organisation, bringing her back to a brand she previously helped manage at an earlier stage of her career. She has expressed her ambition to build on Peak’s heritage, strengthen consumer connections and identify fresh opportunities for business growth.
Her experience also extends beyond the dairy category. Before joining FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Otisi-Igwe worked as Assistant Brand Manager for Fayrouz at Nigerian Breweries PLC between October 2014 and December 2015, gaining additional exposure to beverage marketing and brand management.
Earlier, she undertook a marketing internship at Juhel Nigeria Limited, where she assisted with and observed advertising and sponsorship activities. She also gained customer service and direct sales experience through engagements with Oriflame UK Ltd and River Island in the United Kingdom.
Academically, Otisi-Igwe holds a Master of Science degree in International Marketing from the University of Birmingham and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from the University of Huddersfield. Complementing her academic background, she is a member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (ACIM) and holds the Registered Practitioner in Advertising (ARPA) qualification from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
Her induction as an ARPA, she noted, reinforces the responsibility of marketing and communications professionals to produce work that is not only commercially effective but also ethical, responsible and compliant with established industry standards. She has equally reaffirmed her commitment to continuous professional development and contributing to the credibility of Nigeria’s marketing and advertising industry.
