Years of hard work may unfold away from the spotlight, but excellence has a way of finding its moment of recognition. For Agnes Ailuelohia, a career built on brand-building expertise, operational discipline, consumer engagement and leadership has earned a distinguished place in the history of the MARKETING EDGE Awards 2026, where she was honoured as Experiential Marketing Personality of the Decade.

MARKETING EDGE honours Agnes Ailuelohia
At the awards ceremony in Ikeja, Lagos, MARKETING EDGE celebrated Ailuelohia’s professional journey, recognising the experience and leadership she brings to an industry where successful brand engagement demands far more than creative ideas. Her honour acknowledges the years of work behind memorable consumer experiences and the expertise required to translate brand ambitions into effective execution.
As Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of First Katalyst Marketing Limited, Ailuelohia draws on more than two decades of experience in marketing communications and brand management. Her career spans brand marketing, trade marketing, product innovation, project management and professional development, providing a strong foundation for her leadership in experiential marketing.
Her journey began at Bates Cosse, where she worked as an Account Executive, contributing to the growth of Benson & Hedges and the launch of Nescafé 3-in-1. She subsequently spent more than a decade at British American Tobacco Nigeria, taking on responsibilities across brand marketing, trade marketing, product innovation, and marketing skills and development.
During her time there, she contributed to activities involving Benson & Hedges, Rothmans King Size, London King Size, Pall Mall and Royal Standard. Her work included consumer engagement initiatives, packaging activities and brand activations, including the Benson & Hedges Gold and Tones roadshow and Nescafé 3-in-1 campus and office activities.
Beyond brand campaigns, Ailuelohia contributed to the standardisation of in-store furniture across Nigeria and West Africa and developed a merchandising strategy for the West African area. She also supported professional development through initiatives such as the Benson & Hedges Artiste Development Workshop, Lunch and Learn sessions and marketing team inductions.
This combination of brand experience, executional knowledge and people development prepared her for broader leadership responsibilities. After serving as Client Service Director at First Katalyst, she became Chief Operating Officer in January 2021, taking on a central role in the agency’s operations and delivery across its portfolio of accounts.
Established in 2012, First Katalyst Marketing Limited provides experiential and below-the-line marketing communications solutions, serving businesses across Nigeria and other markets, including West Africa, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. The agency has earned industry accolades for its work, including recognition in experiential and below-the-line marketing, reflecting the collective contribution of its professionals.
Ailuelohia’s leadership experience has also received recognition beyond the MARKETING EDGE platform. She featured among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications recognised by the Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards in 2023 and 2024.
Her latest honour, however, places particular emphasis on her contribution to experiential marketing and the professional depth required to succeed in the field. It recognises a career that bridges multinational brand environments and agency leadership, combining consumer understanding with the operational discipline needed to deliver marketing programmes.
Beyond the individual achievement, the award carries a wider message about visibility and representation. By celebrating women whose work shapes the industry, MARKETING EDGE reinforces the importance of acknowledging professional contributions that might otherwise receive insufficient attention. Such recognition allows emerging practitioners to see what sustained effort and leadership can achieve while encouraging more women to take their place confidently in business and decision-making.
Ailuelohia advocates that women should bring their talents, ideas, experiences and individuality into professional spaces rather than shrink themselves to fit preconceived expectations. Her recognition gives that message added resonance: when women’s achievements receive public acknowledgment, their success can encourage others to pursue their ambitions and claim the opportunities they have earned.
Through its “Promoting the Brand Idea” philosophy, MARKETING EDGE has consistently created a platform for celebrating brands and the people whose expertise helps them grow. By naming Ailuelohia Experiential Marketing Personality of the Decade, the organisation brings her years of experience, resilience and professional contribution into the spotlight.
For Ailuelohia, the award marks a significant career milestone, while for the wider marketing communications industry, it is a reminder that enduring professional distinction is built through accumulated knowledge, effective leadership and the consistent work of turning ideas into experiences that connect brands with people.
