The Nigerian Institute of Journalism, NIJ, has conferred a fellowship on the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, at its special convocation ceremony held in Lagos.

The event took place at the Sir Kensington Adebutu Media Resource Centre on the institute’s Ogba campus, attracting dignitaries from the media, security, and business communities, alongside alumni and students.

Adeniyi, an alumnus of the institute, received the fellowship in recognition of his leadership, dedication to public service, and contributions to advancing professionalism within Nigeria’s media landscape.

Chairman of the institute’s Governing Council and former Ogun State governor, Olusegun Osoba, presided over the ceremony and commended the Customs boss for his distinguished career and impact across sectors.

The special convocation forms part of the institute’s tradition of honouring individuals who have demonstrated excellence and made significant contributions in their respective fields.

The ceremony also served as a platform for stakeholders to reflect on the evolving role of journalism in national development, while reaffirming the institute’s commitment to promoting high professional standards and leadership within the media industry.
