SanlamAllianz General Insurance has formally installed  Jacqueline Uche Agweh as its substantive Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, thereby reinforcing its leadership bench and, at the same time, signalling a renewed push for operational strength across the business.

The underwriting firm confirmed that the appointment took effect from February 11, 2026, and consequently positions the seasoned insurance professional at the forefront of the company’s next growth phase.

With more than three decades of hands on industry experience, the newly appointed chief executive brings deep technical and commercial expertise spanning underwriting, claims administration, reinsurance SanlamAllianz elevates Jacqueline Uche Agweh, insurance broking, life assurance, and core technical operations.

Notably, this breadth of exposure equips her to steer the organisation through an increasingly competitive and evolving insurance landscape.

The Group Head, Strategy, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Customer Relations, Chris Ekwonwa, the company stressed that the elevation represents a defining moment in its ongoing effort to reinforce leadership capacity while simultaneously advancing operational excellence within Nigeria’s insurance sector.

Furthermore, the firm emphasised that the move aligns squarely with its long term ambition to strengthen governance, deepen market confidence, and accelerate sustainable performance.

Before this appointment, Agweh served as Executive Director, Technical Operations at SanlamAllianz General Insurance, where she played a central role in sharpening technical delivery and strengthening internal processes.

Earlier in her career, she held senior management responsibilities at FBN General Insurance, now known as Sanlam General Insurance, as well as at Oasis Insurance Plc, Kelsan Insurance Brokers Limited, and ACEN Insurance Co. Limited, among other reputable institutions within the industry.

Taken together, her extensive professional journey, combined with her proven execution capability, strongly positions her to guide the company’s strategic priorities while also deepening value creation for customers, partners, and stakeholders across the insurance ecosystem.
