World Bank approves additional funding for NG-CARES 2.0

Following the success of NG-CARES 1.0 programme, the World Bank has approved another grants to 12,423 farmers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, supporting agricultural productivity and economic recovery. The initiative, renamed Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES 2.0), is set to launch in June this year.
66% of the disbursed grants were issued in under two years, benefiting 181 Farmers Community Associations.
Lawan Geidam, Mandate Secretary of the FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS), announced this during the inauguration of a Pre-Field Training for Enumerators in Gwagwalada, FCT, Abuja, recently.
According to him, the training is part of preparations for the Endline and Beneficiaries Impact Assessment Survey.
Also commenting, Hussaini Iliyasu, FCT FADAMA CARES Coordinator, reaffirmed that the programme aims to strengthen food security and agricultural supply chains, while FCT CARES Coordinator, Uba Bala, emphasised the need for a Programme Completion Report to enhance future implementation.
As part of the event, office equipment was handed over to FCT FADAMA CARES desk offices in all six area councils, reinforcing programme operations.
