Odunsi, Olugbodi bag LAIF Awards
For their laudable contributions to the growth of the advertising industry in Nigeria, Senator Akin Odunsi, Chairman and Co-Founder, Rosabel Advertising Group and Past President of Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) and Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, Founder, Verdant Zeal and first Chairman, Lagos Advertising & Ideas Festival (LAIF) Management Committee have been honoured with 2017 LAIF-Time Achievement Award and LAIF Special Recognition Award, respectively.
The two were honoured on Sunday night at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos venue of the award. The theme for the year’s awards was “Fresh Thinking”.
The recipients of the awards applauded the organisers for the award’s credibility, urging practitioners to keep innovating and professionally pushing boundaries.
Receiving his award, Odunsi said, “I want to dedicate this award to all our clients and particularly all the Rosabelites. Once again, I want to thank you for this honour; I am privileged. I want you all to keep the flag of the advertising industry flying very high”.
In 1978, Odunsi co-founded Rosabel Advertising and was the agency’s Managing Director until 1997 when he became the Executive Chairman. He held various positions within the Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria now known as AAAN, becoming President of the association from 1989 to 1992. Odunsi retired as Executive Chairman of Rosabel Leo Burnett in 2003.
Tunji Olugbodi, fondly called TJ, is the Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Group, one of Africa’s largest marketing communications groups.
With prior management positions in several world-class agencies, knowledge acquirement across the metropolitan world and a combination of his wealth of experience and vision, TJ is a major force behind the continuing success story of Verdant Zeal.
The Award also produced Advertising Agencies winners like Noah’s Ark, DDB, X3M Ideas, 7EVEN INTERACTIVE, Up in the Sky, among others.
LAIF is the brain child of AAAN. The Awards came on stream in 2006 with its maiden edition held on Friday, June 9th of that year at the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.
LAIF seeks to recognize creative excellence, help to improve the quality of creative craft and to promote the spirit of healthy competition, applying global best practices.
Other objectives of the Award include: Reward and recognition of creativity, promotion of excellence in brand development strategies, Launch of Nigeria’s creative potentials in international circles, creation of an avenue for celebration of great ideas and recognition of marketing excellence.
