Nestlé Nigeria marks 150 years of good nutrition with factory tour
In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Nestlé delivering good nutrition globally, this week, Nestlé Nigeria held a factory tour with key stakeholders.
The visit was organised at the factory where the company manufactures local products such as Cerelac and Maggi seasoning cubes. It was an opportunity to discuss how Nestlé’s commitment to Creating Shared Value (CSV) meets some of the main societal nutrition and health needs of people in Nigeria.
Amongst the guests present were wife of Ogun Governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun, who represented the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha as well as the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye.
Some of the topics discussed during the tour covered areas like the ‘Health Indicators of under-fives in Nigeria’ as well as ‘Nestlé’s efforts to reduce micronutrient deficiencies in under-fives in Nigeria’.
The Country Manager of Nestlé Nigeria, Mr. Mauricio Alarcon who welcomed his guests at Agbara factory, expressed the desire and readiness of Nestlé to continue to collaborate with the relevant government department and other partners in addressing some of the areas of identifying baselines as well as working on nutrition solutions to improve nutrition indicators for Nigeria.
The highpoint of the visit was a facility tour of both the Infant Cereal and Maggi processing plants.
“As Nestlé continues to strive to distribute nutritional products across the globe, I look forward to us collaborating through my Future Assured programmes,” said Mrs Amosun.
