UBA Foundation announces entries for essay competition
Believing that the future of Africa lies in her youth, the UBA Foundation has once again called for entries for the 2016 edition of the bank’s National Essay Competition. Entries will close on Friday, November 4, 2016.
The annual competition which began in 2011, is organized by the UBA Group through its UBA Foundation (the corporate social responsibility arm of the bank) and is open to senior secondary school students schooling in Nigeria.
The competition provides a competitive platform to develop the intellectual and writing abilities of students in SS I to SS 3, and the students stand the chance of winning educational grants to help with their tuition in any African University of their choice.
The National Essay Competition in Nigeria has produced 15 winners so far; some of which are studying in various universities across Africa.
In not more than 750 words, contestants are expected to write on this year’s topic which is ‘If you were in a position to help the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), what would you do?’
The first prize is N1,000,000 for tuition fees in the higher institution while the second and third prizes are N750,000 and N500,000 respectively.
The foundation is actively involved in facilitating educational projects and bridging the literacy-wide gap on a pan-African scale.
