Unilever Nigeria PLC announces new directors following resignation of Jaime Aguilera

Unilever Nigeria PLC undergoes a strategic shift in its leadership with the recent resignation of Mr. Jaime Aguilera, Non-Executive Director, effective 17th January 2024. The Board, in a resolution passed during its meeting on January 18, 2024, formally accepted Aguilera’s resignation and expressed gratitude for his substantial contributions that propelled Unilever Nigeria Plc towards sustainable and profitable growth.

In light of the vacancy left by Aguilera, the Governance, Remuneration, and Risk Management Committee recommended and the Board approved the appointment of two distinguished individuals, effective from January 18, 2024.

Firstly, Mr. Ben Langat, a seasoned professional responsible for Unilever’s operations in East and West Africa, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director. With a career that commenced at Unilever, Mr. Langat has held various positions across different regions in Africa, including Kenya, Malawi, and Ghana. His notable leadership roles at Coca Cola Nigeria and Friesland Campina, where he led Sub-Saharan Africa operations, showcase his wealth of experience. Mr. Langat is of Kenyan origin.

Secondly, Mr. Obinna Emenyonu, who previously served as the Procurement Director for West Africa at Unilever Nigeria Plc since 2019, has been appointed as an Executive Director. Bringing extensive experience in strategic procurement leadership, Mr. Emenyonu has held key roles at Lafarge Africa PLC and PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc before joining Unilever.

The Board extends a warm welcome to Messrs Langat and Emenyonu, expressing confidence in their abilities to contribute significantly to Unilever Nigeria’s continued success in their respective roles.
