NIPR moves against quacks
Poised to bring sanity and high level of professionalism to the Public Relations industry in Nigeria, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) says it is ready to stamp out quack PR practitioners in order to make the profession command the kind of respect it deserves.
Chairman Lagos State Chapter, NIPR, Mr. Olusegun McMedal, who regretted that the industry has been taken over by non-professionals, said the move will form a major cornerstone of NIPR’s plans for the years 2017.
“Our intension is to have an industry where professionalism is practiced at its highest level. Briefcase PR practitioners are a threat to our profession.
“Everything is work in progress. It is not something that we can finish in one day but we will definitely flush out briefcase PR practitioners from the profession” he said.
According to the PR boss, the association will continue to raise the bar and standards to ensure that Public Relations professionals get to an enviable height amongst other professions in the country.
Since his election in March 2016, McMedal has rallied professionals in Lagos State to support the NIPR. He has brought a sense of direction and focus to the NIPR by organising trainings, seminar and other event that has brought relevance to the organisation.
Come Wednesday 21st of December, 2016, NIPR Lagos will be hosting stakeholders to a glamorous and colourful gala and award night. The event which is the first of such in the industry will reward and recognised outstanding PR practioners and organisations.
