The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, NIMN has revealed that a total of one hundred and fifty-five inactive members have been reintegrated into the marketing body after fulfilling the required conditions for reintegration.
This was revealed by Idorenyen Enang, President and Chairman of Council, NIMN during the 3rd quarterly virtual summit held recently.
According to the body, out of the total number of members reintroduced into the body, 13 were Fellows, 64 were Full members and 78 were Associate members.
The President who enjoined members to support the work going on in the institute which is geared toward repositioning it for growth and inclusiveness emphasized that payment of subscription is mandatory by law.
He said: “This is an Act of law. If you are not a financial member, you are not recognized and anyone not recognized should not call himself a member. I am pleased to announce to you that as of October 7, we now have 1077 members who by the law are certified to be addressed as marketers”.
The NIMN boss also informed members that work on the review of the NIMN Act has reached an advanced stage as well as efforts to update the marketing curriculum.
“As you are aware, the Act that set us in place was enacted way back in 2003. So, we had to look at a process of refreshing it and this process started at the beginning of the year. I am happy to announce that we are at the point where we have given it to a drafter. The drafter has given us the proposed amendment. Members of the Council have reviewed it and it has gone back to the drafter.
“Also, the subject of our syllabus and curriculum which have not been reviewed for 12 years is currently in the process of being reviewed. We have re-energized the journal of marketing. I have to tell you that the editorial board has received over 17 articles from contributors and these articles are currently undergoing review” he added.
He further revealed that the marketing body has also entered into partnerships with NTA, ARCON, and others to facilitate the realisation of its goals for inclusivity and the marketability of the Institute.
Recall that the National Institute of Nigeria had in a statement given a 90-day window to enable relapsed members who have failed to pay their subscriptions for years preceding 2020, to pay both 2021 and 2022 and have the backlog written off and be reintegrated as members.
