In a deliberate effort to commemorate the World Environment Day, the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability through a series of impactful initiatives.

Embracing the theme ‘Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,’ NBC launched a nationwide tree-planting campaign that has left a significant mark in the fight against climate change.

According to the statement released by the company on its LinkedIn page on Friday, the tree-planting activities, which took place across Abuja, Lagos, Oyo, Edo, and Imo States, were key to NBC’s efforts in combating desertification and enhance drought resilience.

It revealed that the activities were complemented by roadshows, rallies, symposiums, and lectures that are aimed at highlighting the critical benefits of tree-planting and its essential role in environmental conservation.

The highlight of the celebrations was the commemoration of the first anniversary of the Green Echo Hub at the University of Lagos.

In partnership with the University, NBC hosted an environmental sustainability challenge that has been instrumental in creating awareness and promoting engagement in plastic waste management.

This initiative has successfully recovered 1.5 million plastic bottles to date, meeting its sustainability targets and setting a high standard for future environmental efforts.

Through these comprehensive initiatives, NBC continues to lead by example in promoting environmental sustainability, fostering community engagement, and driving significant progress in the fight against climate change.
