The Lagos state government political theme campaign themed, A New Lagos Rising may have just received a major boost as Governor Olusola Sanwo-Olu got a confirmation nod on his mandate with the judgement of Appeal Court in Lagos today.
Sanwo-Olu’s mandate was affirmed as Governor of Lagos State by a three-man panel of the Election Petition Appeal sitting in Lagos. According to the court judgment, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and deputy , Dr. Kehinde Obafemi Hamzat, were duly elected as governor and deputy governor of Lagos State, respectively.
The judgment delivered by Justice Yargata Nimpa, Justice Samuel Bola and Paul Bassey, dismissed the suit filed by Olajide Adediran, governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), against the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
It held that the appellants failed to prove their allegations of forgery and non-qualification against Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat.
“Even though they were all pre-election matters, the appellants (PDP and Adeniran) still failed to prove them. The appellants came empty-handed and left empty-handed. They merely enjoyed their day in court. Their petition is dismissed.”
