Hill & Knowlton taps Singh as MD for UK public affairs

Hill & Knowlton has appointed Tara Singh as the Managing Director to oversee its public affairs division in the UK, leveraging her extensive two-decade experience in global public affairs and policy development.
Singh arrives with a diverse background, having recently led integrated power policy and advisory at Shell on a global scale. Her expertise spans various domains, including steering policy and public affairs for start-up First Utility before its acquisition. Singh’s previous stint involved working as a special adviser to former UK Prime Minister David Cameron, focusing on energy, environment, and cost-of-living matters while at Number 10.
In her newly established role at Hill & Knowlton, Singh will play a pivotal part in fortifying the agency’s global public affairs services. Her responsibilities will extend to shaping the agency’s public affairs portfolio by integrating data analytics, sector-specific expertise, and integrated communications. She aims to provide strategic guidance to clients in policy, regulatory stakeholder management, and mitigate potential political risks.
Simon Whitehead, CEO of Hill & Knowlton UK, expressed enthusiasm about Singh’s arrival, citing her strategic acumen and vast experience. He emphasized her ability to offer clients comprehensive counsel on domestic and international public affairs, particularly during a year marked by elections in the UK, US, Brussels, and other global regions.
Singh expressed her excitement, stating her readiness to join Hill & Knowlton during a transformative phase in the policy landscape. She acknowledged the profound changes following the impact of Covid-19, geopolitical tensions, and domestic financial challenges. Singh aims to contribute her expertise to the team as they navigate through these critical times, especially with the approaching election year.
