Spain’s national tourism body TURESPAÑA has appointed Havas Media to handle media planning and buying duties for the promotion of Spain as a tourist destination across international markets, following a competitive pitch in which other contenders were not disclosed, according to Media Post.

The contract carries an estimated total value of $40 million and will run for an initial two-year period, with options to extend for up to three additional years.

Havas Media’s remit covers media strategy and activation across Europe, North America, Central and South America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Ferran Juaní, Managing Director of Havas International, will serve as client lead on the account.

The TURESPAÑA win follows closely on the heels of another Spanish tourism victory for the network. Earlier this month, Tourism Madrid selected Havas as its new advertising and communications agency following a separate competitive pitch, with that assignment covering both creative and media responsibilities.

The back-to-back wins position Havas as a dominant force in Spain’s tourism communications landscape across both national and regional levels.
