FG to harness technology for livestock reforms, dairy production

The federal government has disclosed its readiness to engage the technology innovation ecosystem to explore ways of designing and applying technological solutions in the livestock, diary production and other associated sectors.
This was revealed by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani while reacting to the newly inaugurated Presidential Committee on the implementation of Livestock Reforms by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu had recently constituted the presidential committee in Abuja with a view to addressing obstacles to agricultural productivity and open up new opportunities that will benefit farmers, herders, processors and distributors in the livestock-farming value chain.
While reacting to the development through his verified X handle (formally Twitter), Tijani said the technology innovation ecosystem will collaborate with the committee to explore and design technological solutions that can be applied across livestock, dairy production, and related sectors.
According to him, the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to integrating modern technology into traditional agricultural practices that will drive efficiency and output.
He said the focus will be on utilizing advanced technologies such as data analytics, precision farming, and digital platforms to improve livestock management, enhance dairy production processes, and streamline supply chains.
In his words, “Our belief is that with the strength of our innovation ecosystem, we will stimulate economic growth through increased agricultural productivity.”
The inauguration of the committee marks an important step towards modernizing Nigeria’s agricultural sector and reflects the government’s broader strategy to harness technology for national development.
The outcomes of the initiative are expected to set a new benchmark for agricultural practices in the country, fostering innovation and sustainability in the long term.
