The 2020 Brand Africa 100 has invited all stakeholders and its interested public to its global virtual event on Africa Day. The virtual event is scheduled for 25 May 2020, and the time is 8:00 am, local time (Nigeria). The programme will hold across three African countries, which includes Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
Some of the prominent participants include Oscar Onyema – CEO, NSE – Nigeria; Richard Kiplagat – CEO, Africa Practice; Nicholas Becker – CEO, Geopoll HQ, USA; Geoffrey Odundo – CEO, NSE – Kenya and Dr. Leila Fourie – CEO, JSE – South Africa among others.
According to Brand Africa, brands are a catalyst and a vector of the image, reputation and value of organisations and ultimately of their nations and continents of origin.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Brand Africa 100, Africa’s Best Brands rankings amid the era of the novel Covid-19. Over the past decade, Brand Africa 100 has established itself as the most authoritative survey and analysis of brands and businesses in Africa, based on a study by Geopoll across 27 countries spanning all the five economic regions.
“Collectively these countries account for over 80% of the population and over 80% of the GDP of Africa. An analysis of the data by Kantar and Brand Leadership over the past 10 years has established that on average, only 20% of the brands admired by Africans are made in Africa. What will this year’s results tell us about the strength and resilience of African brands?” the statement queried.
Brand Africa is an independent non-profit organisation registered in the Republic of South Africa and a signatory to the Independent Code of Governance for non-profit organisations in Africa. It was conceived by global African branding authority and the founder of Brand Africa and Brand Leadership Group, Thebe Ikalafeng, to provide an objective metric for brands that Africans admire and drive the continent’s image and reputation, the global results and rankings report were launched on 30 September 2011 at a Brand Africa Forum hosted by Brand South Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa.
