ARCON, NIMN to implement MOU this year

As part of initiatives earmarked for this year to reposition the Integrated Marketing Communications Industry, the Director General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo has revealed that the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, NIMN, will takeoff in 2023.
Speaking to MARKETING EDGE, the Director General of the apex advertising regulatory body stated that the partnership is aimed at bridging the gap and facilitate cross pollination of ideas which will accelerate the growth of the industry.
According to him, the MOU which will be ready for implementation by the first quarter of this year will focus on capacity building and make membership easy and attainable.
He said: “The major outstanding in that respect is for us to implement the MOU. So, we are believing that in the first quarter of 2023, it will implemented. We want to do a joint training program, capacity building training program. We want to have a situation whereby if you are a member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, moving into the advertising space should be less stressful and seamless.
“So these are some of the critical elements. We also want to bring global learnings and training into what we are doing. The two organisations will speak to this in the New Year and before the end of the first quarter, we will see this thing come to fruition ” he added.
Recall that the MOU was signed months ago at the office of the Director General where the President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, NIMN, Mr. Idorenyen Enang stressed that the partnership will herald a new dispensation of inclusiveness for professionals in the industry.
” The essence is to fuse development and building of capacity. There is a lot of fragmentation across all our professions. What we have done basically is to come together and sign a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow members to criss-cross” he said.
The NIMN boss who noted that members of either bodies can become certified by both organisations after fulfilling certain conditions said: ” Ultimately, we see ourselves as members of the same body even if they are different parts”.
