APCON restates commitment to professionalism, charges practitioners on principles of advertising
The Acting Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Mrs. Ijedi Iyoha, has stated that the regulatory body remains committed to professional advertising and will do everything to ensure practitioners adhere to the good tenets of advertising.
Mrs. Iyoha said this during the presentation of the 2019 Industry Evening Best Regulator Award won by the Council in her office in Lagos.
According to the acting registrar, the Council has been making frantic efforts to ensure that advertising industry in Nigeria is sanitized.
“The 2019 general election could be attributed to that because we have a fairly regulated environment,” she said.
She used the opportunity to congratulate Mr. Steve Babaeko, Chief Executive Officer of X3M Ideas and Mr. Femi Adelusi, Chief Executive Officer of BrandEye/MediaPlus, who emerged presidents of Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) and Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN), respectively.
Speaking on the APCON award, a member of the 2019 awards committee panel, Mr. Daniel Obi, said: “History of APCON cannot be complete without the indelible contributions of Mrs. Iyoha whose trajectory in the establishment has been remarkable.”
