Dr. Omotola Bamigbaiye-Elatuyi, a seasoned commercial and strategic planning leader with more than 25 years of experience across the financial services and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods sectors, is set to bring her wealth of industry experience to the Marketing Edge 2026 National Marketing Stakeholders Summit.
The virtual summit, themed “Cultural Authenticity as Currency: Turning Heritage into Modern Branding & Marketing,” will hold on September 24, with Dr. Omotola serving as the lead speaker for the second session, “The Credibility Mandate: Navigating Trust, Truth and Transience in Marketing Communications.”
With a career spanning the Middle East, East Africa and West Africa, Dr. Omotola has worked within highly matrixed environments and held leadership positions with full P&L responsibility. Her professional experience cuts across strategic planning, customer experience management, category and trade management, portfolio and innovation management, consumer engagement and sustainable business growth.
She has worked with leading organisations including Polaris Bank, Wema Bank, Cadbury/Mondelez, Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, Guinness/Diageo and Pladis Foods, gaining extensive experience in developing brands, markets and consumer-led business strategies.
One of the defining features of her career has been her ability to translate purposeful marketing into initiatives with wider social impact. She played a key role in delivering Nigeria’s first World Toilet Day and partnered with the Ministry of Health on initiatives focused on reducing diarrhoea and malaria.
In the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods sector, she has led teams behind major innovations and market initiatives, including the first large-scale launch under a global beer portfolio, the first brand extension for a global cream liqueur brand, and strategies for distinct snacking occasions for a global snacking brand across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Beyond commercial and marketing leadership, Dr. Omotola is a corporate governance expert who has served as a Board Advisor and Independent Non-Executive Director. Her experience across industries has also positioned her as a sought-after facilitator, with engagements at Lagos Business School, Rome Business School and the University of Lagos Business School.
She is the author of Imperfectly Awesome: Embracing and Becoming a Wholesome You and the convener of the Imperfectly Awesome Conversations, platforms through which she explores personal development, leadership and purposeful living.
As lead speaker for the second session, Dr. Omotola is expected to draw on her extensive experience in strategic planning, consumer behaviour, corporate governance and brand management to examine the role of credibility in modern marketing communications.
Her career across global consumer brands, financial institutions and member-based organisations provides a broad perspective on how businesses can build trust, communicate with purpose and remain relevant as consumer expectations and communication channels continue to evolve.
Her participation reinforces the summit’s focus on the changing relationship between culture, consumers, brands and communication, while bringing a strong strategic and commercial perspective to the conversation around trust, truth and transience in marketing communications.
