Meta recently confirmed that it has begun testing a premium subscription on Instagram called Instagram Plus. A plan which will give subscribers access to a set of exclusive features not available to standard users.

The perks are heavily focused on Instagram Stories.

The plus feature will grant subscribers incognito access to view another user’s Story without triggering a view notification, search their own Story viewer list for specific accounts, and see how many times followers have rewatched their Stories.

Paying users can also extend a Story’s shelf life by an additional 24 hours, a notable upgrade given that Stories currently vanish after one day.

Not to Be Confused With Meta Verified

Instagram Plus is entirely separate from Meta Verified, a subscription aimed at creators and businesses, offering verification badges, impersonation protection, and priority support. Instagram Plus, by contrast, is aimed at everyday users.

Meta first signalled plans for new subscription tiers back in January 2026, announcing intentions to test paid offerings across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The Instagram Plus pilot is the first public-facing test of that initiative.

Meta says its hope from these tests is to understand what’s most valuable to people in a premium feature set, and the company will continue testing before any wider rollout.
