Telecommunication giant Globacom has rolled out ongoing network improvement projects aimed at enhancing customer experience.

Officials Reaffirm Commitment to Service Quality

According to officials, Globacom has been working round the clock to ensure that subscribers across the country continue to receive value for their money—especially in light of the recent tariff increment approved by regulatory authorities.

Company Deploys New Base Stations Nationwide

The network upgrade includes the deployment of new base stations to cover additional locations. The company is also carrying out densification efforts to improve coverage in areas with growing populations, thereby guaranteeing excellent network quality for both voice and data services nationwide.

Globacom Relocates Fibre Infrastructure

Furthermore, Globacom is relocating its fibre infrastructure in several locations where road construction projects have affected network quality. These locations include Auchi-Okene, Benin-Ekpoma, Lafia-Akwanga, Minna-Abuja, and Funtua-Gusau.
“We decided, at a huge cost, to relocate the fibres, many of which uncoordinated road construction activities had vandalized in several places, in order to bring best-in-class services to customers,” the company disclosed.

Network Expansion Points to Brighter Days

These efforts point to brighter days for Glo customers, as the company is about to complete the deployment of several hundred new sites across the country. Moreover, the network has already deployed thousands of 4G LTE sites across key cities and locations this year alone. Currently, it is deploying 150 new ones to scale up the total number.

Backhaul and Core Network Receive Major Upgrades

To complement the site expansion, Globacom has massively upgraded its backhaul capacity through both microwave and fibre technologies. In addition, the company has initiated a well-planned improvement in its core network, which is progressing seamlessly.

Company Assures Enhanced Service Quality

The company has assured customers that its ongoing efforts will lead to enhanced service delivery, superior network quality, and expanded coverage. Customers can also expect faster data speeds and improved overall network performance.

Plans to Add Over 1,000 New Sites

Looking ahead, Globacom targets to add over a thousand new sites in the next year. The company plans to focus on adding more LTE sites to strengthen its reliable data services. It is also extending fibre connectivity to many of its hub sites to ensure greater reliability and robust service delivery.

Company Expands Hybrid Power to Cut Carbon Emissions

In its commitment to sustainability, Globacom continues expanding hybrid power systems across its sites. The company increasingly relies on battery power rather than generators, aiming to minimize carbon emissions despite the substantial investment involved.

Telco Calls for Action Against Sabotage

Despite its aggressive network expansion, Globacom remains concerned about ongoing deliberate sabotage of its network equipment. The company emphasized that, even though regulatory authorities have designated telecom infrastructure as critical national infrastructure, more needs to be done to curb these acts of vandalism.
