MARKETING EDGE ONTV hosts Omotoso this Wednesday

MARKETING EDGE ONTV is set to host Honourable Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, in an exclusive Industry Conversation segment. This special edition of the programme will air on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. on TVC News (DSTV Channel 418) and at 8:00 p.m. on WAP TV (DSTV Channel 262), with a repeat broadcast scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. on WAP TV. The 30-minute show will feature Brand News, Brand in Focus, and the highly anticipated Industry Conversation with the distinguished guest.

The media relations expert will share insights on key governance issues, including the public sector’s performance compared to the private sector, Lagos State’s efforts in delivering the dividends of governance, and the administration’s economic projections for 2025.

He will also discuss the impact of the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda on Lagos residents and how the ‘No One Left Behind’ philosophy has shaped the state’s development initiatives. Additionally, he will highlight notable projects under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s ‘A Greater Lagos Rising’ campaign and the government’s commitment to infrastructure, technology, and business innovation.

The conversation will further explore Lagos State’s strategies in promoting tourism, strengthening the creative economy, and fostering economic growth through key sectors. The noble commissioner will address the state’s communication strategies in engaging residents, managing public perception, and responding to negative narratives, including concerns over building collapses. As the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, he will assess his ministry’s role in shaping the state’s image and ensuring effective dissemination of government policies.

The Lagos State mouthpiece is a seasoned journalist, writer, and communications expert with over 35 years in the media industry. Before assuming office as Commissioner, he had a distinguished career as Editor of The Nation newspaper, where he also maintained the widely followed column, “Editorial Notebook.” His journalistic journey began at The Guardian, where he rose through the ranks to become the Editor of the Saturday Guardian and later the pioneer Editor of Comet newspaper. In 2006, he took on the role of the pioneer Editor of The Nation, establishing its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading newspapers.

Omotoso earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Literature from the University of Benin and later pursued a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs at the University of Lagos. He is a respected member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, he has received multiple accolades for his contributions to media excellence, including the DAME Award in 2010 and the Nigeria Media Merit Award for Editor of the Year in 2013, 2015, and 2017.

Beyond his professional achievements, the veteran journalist  is an avid sports enthusiast, particularly in table tennis. His passion for the game was evident in an exhibition match against Aruna Quadri, one of the world’s top-ranked players, where he demonstrated commendable skill. As Commissioner for Information and Strategy, he remains dedicated to effective communication, transparency, and public engagement, ensuring that the Lagos State government’s policies and programmes are well articulated and understood by residents.
