11 Plc assures safety after fire incident at Mobil Service Station in Lagos

11 Plc, the company operating the Mobil Service Station on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos, has assured members of the public the safety of lives and property following the fire outbreak that engulfed a section of its station located on the above address on Thursday.

The fire, which occurred in the early hours of the day, was quickly contained through the coordinated efforts of the station’s emergency response team and various state and federal agencies.

In a statement issued by its management, 11 Plc confirmed that the fire was extinguished with the help of the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Emphasizing the safety of the public and its employees as their top priority, the company disclosed that it has temporarily closed the affected service station to allow for a thorough investigation and to ensure public safety as a precautionary measure.

The management revealed that it is working closely with relevant government authorities to determine the cause of the fire and to assess the extent of the damage. It also noted that necessary measures are being implemented to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.

According to the statement, those who sustained injuries during the incident have been evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment while the exact number of those injured and the severity of their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

“Safety is not just a priority for us; it is a core value. We are committed to ensuring the well-being of our employees, customers, and the general public. Our management team is fully engaged in addressing the situation and ensuring a swift and comprehensive resolution,” the statement reads in part.

The company however expressed its deep appreciation for the prompt response of the emergency services and the cooperation of the public during the incident, assuring stakeholders of all necessary steps to prevent future incidents.

While the management promised to keep members of the public updated as the investigation progresses, it however reintrated its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards across all its operations.
