WIMBIZ set to put next gen of female leaders on growth path

In the quest to sustain its vision and put the next generation of female leaders on the path of growth, Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) is set to hold a two-day annual conference between 3rd and 4th November, 2022. The event will be held at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Announcing the conference during a press briefing in Lagos, Hansatu Adegbite, the Executive Director, WIMBIZ, said this year’s annual conference will be a hybrid event with the theme: “Firing Forward: The Future in Focus”.
According to her, the conference is geared towards inspiring today’s woman through some of Nigeria’s pacesetters to help chart a roadmap for the upliftment of the next female leaders for the nearest future.
Binta Max-Gbinije, Chair, Conference Planning Group Committee, said the theme is apt and topical. She mentioned the array of activities lined up for the event, while reeling out a plethora of notable speakers that cut across sectors and continents who will be dissecting the theme.
“Award-winning writer, Chimamanda Adichie and Senator Bukola Saraki, former President of the Senate, will be leading the conversation and setting the tone as keynote speakers, while Osaretin Demuren, first female director of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will chair the conference. They will be joined by other industry leaders and experts, including Cicilia Bolaji Dada, Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and various foreign ambassadors among others,” she said.
She noted that the advocacy committee is passionate and patriotic in supporting the 2022/2023 pre-election by ensuring the sensitization of women and positively influencing their attitudes towards the exercise of their civic duties.
“Last year’s theme was a celebration of legacy; we are just moving forward and putting the future in focus. This year’s theme is apt considering the upcoming general elections and given the fact that we are in transition in WIMBIZ as an organisation and of course, the hope we have for the future. We have made a clarion call in WIMBIZ for women to join the race and put their best feet forward for political office,” she said.
According to Max-Gbinije, there will be several plenary sessions. The first session will kick off with experts from across the world that will be joining either physically or virtually to speak on leadership to help Nigeria navigate its political journey in a post-pandemic era. Another session one tagged “Naija to the World” will see some Nigerians who have excelled in their chosen fields sharing their success stories. The last plenary session, made up of ambassadors and diplomats, will be focusing on leading beyond borders as it relates to leadership as well.
She noted that there will be award recognition for female trailblazers and achievers in academia who have impacted and contributed immensely to the growth of education.
“There is also the impact assessment where sponsors partnering with WIMBIZ will identify small organisations which have existed in the last 0-3 years that need support, particularly in the renewable energy space to help boost the growth of their business and ensure the sustainability of new businesses as well as other special interventions,” she said.
Molade Adeniyi, Chair, Conference Planning Group, Technology Sub-Committee, said that participants, after registration, will be getting direct access to the WIMBIZ Apps, adding that the hybrid event will be leveraging technology through a tech app, where they can access necessary information about the conference.
The high point of this year’s conference will be side events such as debate, after party and deep dive which will feature diverse topics where delegates will be allowed to choose any topic of their choice.
