Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II dies at 96

After seven decades of ruling the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96.
The announcement made by the Royal Family via Twitter disclosed that the Queen died peacefully at Balmoral on Thursday 8th September 2022.
“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the statement read.
Watched live by an estimated 18 million people across the country, Queen Elizabeth II who will remain as one of the longest serving monarchs in British history was crowned on 2 June 1953.
Aged 25 at the time, she was appointed in February of 1952 after the sudden passing of her father.
Over the course of her 70-year rule, Queen Elizabeth II oversaw an extraordinary period of British history, including decolonization and the independence of more than 20 countries that were once a part of the British Empire. Fifteen British Prime Ministers came and went during her reign, along with 14 U.S. Presidents.
