Skit Store expands footprint with the opening of its seventh location

Skit Store, a one-stop shop for school, office, and lifestyle supplies, has opened its seventh location in Surulere, Lagos.
It should be noted that the highly reputable and proudly Nigerian brand rebranded from School Kits to Skits in 2020 in order to expand its retail footprint and capture a larger customer base.
Commenting on the launch of the new store and the choice of location, Skit Store’s General Manager, Commercials, Mrs. Seun Ogunjimi, stated, “We used to have a branch here in Surulere, but we lost it to vandalism during the EndSARS protest.” We decided to stay in Surulere because it is a high-demand area, and we also needed to consider traffic navigation for our customers.”
Speaking further, Mrs Ogunjimi explained that the decision to expand the business’s boundaries stemmed from the need to evolve customer traffic.
“Based on our business model and structures, we realized that after the secondary school stage, we tend to lose most of our customers, so we constantly have to evolve new customer traffic, because of course, once you are done with your secondary level, you actually don’t have anything to do with us anymore,” she said.
“That was why we decided to expand into non-school and post-secondary school categories, colleges, universities, even working professionals can now buy from us. As school kits, it was primarily focused on school supplies, covering and catering to children ages 2 to 18, i.e kindergarten through secondary school.”
“Over the years we have seen growth in that regard, however we wanted to be able to offer more to our audience while also responding to market dynamics in Nigeria. As a result, we decided to broaden our business beyond school-age children. We have parents purchasing items for their kids, and we wanted to give the parents the opportunity to also select a few items for themselves.”
Office and lifestyle products are now part of Skit Store’s product category expansion. It now offers trendy products in addition to school supplies and accessories, such as smart wearables, computers and accessories, speakers, personal care, and many more.
The new store is located at 104, Bode Thomas Street, Surulere, Lagos.
