Victor Oladokun, Nigerian communication consultant appointed to AfDB board
The African Development Bank Group has announced the appointment of five directors for the bank, including Dr. Victor B. Oladokun, who is now the Director of Communication and External Relations of the bank.
Oladokun, a citizen of Great Britain, holds a Doctorate degree in of Strategic Leadership (DSL) from Regent University, Virginia Beach, USA; a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Leadership: Regent University, USA; a Master of Arts in Communication from Regent University, USA; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History/Political Science from the University of Ife, Nigeria.
The Nigerian joins the African Development Bank from 3D Global Consult, a media and communications consulting firm in Nigeria, where he has been the Chief Executive Officer since 2012. He has been responsible for strategy formulation, operational management, high-level client liaison as well as new business development.
Between 1990 and 2009, he worked as a news journalist, international TV host, Producer, Senior Producer, and later as Managing Producer at CBN International, Virginia Beach, USA. His accountabilities included TV programming content and productions; providing leadership oversight of multiple production teams in the United States, South Africa, and Nigeria, in addition to monitoring global media and communication trends.
Also appointed into the board is Dr. Abdu Mukhtar was appointed the Director of Industrial and Trade Development. Mukhtar is a citizen of the United States of America, and joins the AfDB from the Dangote Group of Industries, Nigeria, where he has been the Group Chief Strategy Officer since 2014.
Mukhtar holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Ahmadu Bello University School of Medicine, Zaria, Nigeria; a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from the Boston University School of Medicine, USA; a Master in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; and a Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. He was an Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellow and the recipient of several international awards.
South African Trevor de Kock was named Director, Financial Management. A Master of Science in Physics from Rhodes University, South Africa, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, de Kock is a seasoned professional with more than 25 years of experience in banking, development finance, and treasury and risk management.
He joined the bank in 1999 as Division Manager, Financial Technical Services Division, in the Treasury Department, where he was responsible for supporting the development and roll-out of the Bank’s market-based lending products.
The Director of Financial Controls, Ms. Omobola Hollist is a Nigerian national, who brings to the role over 30 years of experience in the financial sector. Until this appointment, she was Manager of Disbursements since March 2007 and Acting Director, Financial Control Department, since October 2015.
Hollist holds an MBA (Finance) degree from the CASS Business School, City University of London, United Kingdom and Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Economics) degree from Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
She joined the African Development Bank in 1991 as a Loan Accounting Officer in the Loan Accounting & Statistics Division and managed a portfolio of loans/grants for a group of assigned countries.
Cameroun national, Mr. Jacques Edjangue, was named Director of Language Services, to resume September 1, 2017. Edjangue is and has been the Manager, French Translation Division, since 2011. He joined the African Development Bank as Senior Translator in 2002. He was appointed Principal Reviser in 2007 before becoming a Manager.
Edjangue holds an MBA from the Colorado State University, USA; a Master Degree in Interpretation from the University of Buea, Cameroon; a Master Degree in Translation from the Buea University Center, Cameroon; a Language and Literature Certificate from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom; and a Maîtrise in Afro-American Literature from the University of Yaounde I, Cameroon.
