The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) has appointed Jane Wakely, Chief Consumer & Marketing Officer at PepsiCo as new Deputy President. The appointment, which kicked off with immediate effect, will see Wakely delivering new roles with the global advertising body as she will be leading with many innovative solutions. She replaced Conny Braams as WFA’s Deputy President, who recently announced her retirement from Unilever, where she was the Chief Digital and Commercial Officer.

Jane brings with her a rich work experience of over two decades, having worked with PepsiCo since January 2022, where she oversees the Global Consumer organization across different PepsiCo brands, which includes R&D, Marketing, Insights, Design and Category Strategy.

Prior to joining PepsiCo, Jane served as the lead CMO at Mars Incorporated for 21 years, where she was a driving force in the transformation of Mars’ consumer functions, leading and launching Mars’ innovative mandate for sustainable growth with people, data, creativity, and purpose at its heart. Jane began her career at Procter & Gamble and was one of the founding members of GARM.

Recounting her career journey while expressing her excitement, she said it’s been rewarding one filled with immense learning.

“After many years working with the WFA Executive Committee and WFA members to raise the bar of marketing excellence, I am honoured to become the next WFA Deputy President. I believe if we collectively tap into the power of our brands in combination with our industry’s creativity and innovation, we can leverage our collective scale and reach to make an even more meaningful and measurable difference to our performance and our impact on both people and planet. I am looking forward to partnering closely with the WFA community to advance our shared priorities together in the years to come,” she said.

Stephan Loerke, WFA Chief Executive Officer, revealed that Wakely’s appointment as WFA Deputy President is in recognition of Jane’s longstanding commitment to WFA’s ideals of peer-to-peer learning and the power of global advertisers to work together to deliver better marketing for people, brands and society.

“We’re thrilled that Jane is becoming our Deputy President as she has been an example to our profession of how to build brilliant teams and land inspiring messages for the brands she represents. She truly understands our vision of better marketing and I’m hugely looking forward to her contributions to our future strategy and growth,” she said.
