Unilag, PAU other top colleges lurk horns for top prize in NIPR PR competition
Students of Mass Communication Department of the University of Lagos will on Wednesday challenge their counterparts from Pan Atlantic University and other higher institutions in Lagos on a collegiate public relations debate with the theme: ‘Exemplary Leadership: Public Relations Art for Nation-State Building’, at the Nigerian Institute of Management by 10am.
Other higher institutions that will take part in the maiden inter-collegiate competition include Lagos State Polytechnic, Lagos State University and Yaba College of technology (YabaTech).
The collegiate PR challenge is part of activities marking the Lagos Public Relations Week by the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. (NIPR).
According to the Chairman of Lagos NIPR, Olusegun McMedal, the PR competition is the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa where the contestants will be judged based on several criteria including clarity of thought, oratory skills and demonstrated understanding of the topic as well as their grounded knowledge in public relations practice.
The Lagos chapter of NIPR is the umbrella body of professional public relations practitioners, chartered to regulate, develop and direct the practice among practitioners in the state.
