Toyin Ajayi’s Cityblock Health hires KFC’s Andrea Zahumensky as first CMO
Citiblock Health, a U.S.-based community health provider co-founded by Nigeria’s Toyin Ajayi and Iyah Romm has appointed Andrea Zahumensky, former KFC Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) as the first CMO of the 5-year old company.
Andrea Zahumensky joined KFC in 2017 where she was instrumental to the elevation of KFC’s brand with industry-leading innovation and marketing activations, which have contributed to the profitable growth of the food chain and helped build the brand into a more modern and relevant one.
As Citiblocks is repositioning as the go-to healthcare provider for the low-income patients during a critical time in the industry when Covid 19 and its different variants are exerting pressure on the country’s healthcare delivery, Zahumensky is expected to re-enact the KFC success story by building a modern, profitable and in-the- people’s-mind healthcare brand out of the company.
Toyin Ajayi, MD, MPhil, is Co-founder and President at Cityblock Health, a New York-based health and social services company focused on providing integrated health and social care for low-income urban populations with complex health and social needs. Prior to this, Dr. Ajayi served as Chief Medical Officer at Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA), a Massachusetts nonprofit health plan and integrated care delivery system created to provide high-quality care to people with complex health needs. In this role, she directed clinical programs and oversaw clinical care delivery, care management, and clinical operations. Dr. Ajayi is a board-certified family physician and maintains an active clinical practice. Before joining CCA in 2013, Dr. Ajayi was an attending physician at BMC’s Department of Family Medicine where she was awarded the Department’s Faculty Teaching Award in 2013, and a clinical instructor at Boston University’s School of Public Health. Dr. Ajayi was earlier, an attending physician at BMC’s Department of Family Medicine where she was awarded the Department’s Faculty Teaching Award in 2013, and a clinical instructor at Boston University’s School of Public Health. Dr. Ajayi received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University; an MPhil from the University of Cambridge; and her medical degree, with Distinction in Clinical Practice, from King’s College London School of Medicine.
