Superbrands Council names top brands as 362 brands head for 2021 awards

Council of the prestigious world’s largest independent arbiter of branding, Superbrands Nigeria, led by Dr. Abiodun Shobanjo with other members, after a concerted effort, accompanied by extensive research for credible selection of brands, has named the much awaited brands that made the top lists for nomination for the 2021 Superbrands Awards in Nigeria. This was after the Council of Superbrands Nigeria had ratified the final list of 362 brands across 73 Categories in the Nigeria Market.

Recall that the Council had earlier presented 470 Brands across 93 categories initially, which have been reduced to 362 brands across 73 Categories in the Nigeria Market from the earlier stated number.

This was disclosed by Sabastine Okeke, the executive director by the global leading awards platform, during an interview with Nigeria’s foremost brand focused magazine, MARKETING EDGE. According to the Superbrands Nigeria CEO, the reputable Council   ratified the list of Top Ten Brands across all sectors of the market and also top five across specific categories such as in Personal Hygiene – Bodycare , Dairy Products, Alcoholic brand Spirits, Broadband Services and many more, for the 2021 Superbrands Awards in Nigeria.

Elaborating further, he said: “These are the Top Ten across the entire market, while Top Five is across specific categories. This list of Top Ten brands has also been approved by the Global Board of Superbrands International, headquartered in London.”

For this year’s edition, reckoning brands that made the list include Nescafe, Mastercard, Peak, Golden Penny, Power Oil, Hypo, MTN, Indomie, Oral-B and Shoprite. The emergence of these brands as Top Brands followed keenly intensive research conducted by KANTAR Research and days of review by the Council of Superbrands Nigeria.

The marketing guru stated that other events following the unveiling of these and all listed Superbrands across all categories would lead to a grand event on Saturday, November 21, 2021, known across the globe as the ‘Night of Tribute’, which holds across 90 countries and major cities of the world.

He also pointed out that the Awards are based on independent and random consumer feedback on the three Superbrands pillars of Quality, Reliability and Distinction.

Mr. Okeke added that these strategic pillars further deployed over a broader global standard across all countries and major markets of the world with local assessments and validation to recognize and celebrate the ten distinctive attributes of each Superbrands.

These, according to the Superbrands overseer, include distinctive attributes such as Trust, Prestige, Intangible Asset, Distinction, Reliability, Quality, Consumer Assurance, Credibility, Market Leadership and Exposure.

2021 edition of the Superbrands Nigeria Awards is piloted by consummate industry titans led by Dr. Abiodun Shobanjo, with other members of Council including Dr. John Momoh, Mr. George Thorpe, Prof. (Mrs.) Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, Mr. Chima Okenimkpe, Engr.
