Samsung, MTN support FG’s Covid-19 fight with 500 units of Galaxy A2 Core devices
Samsung Mobile Nigeria in partnership with MTN Nigeria has donated 500 Galaxy A2 Core devices with 2GB data for six months to the Federal Ministry of Health to curb COVID-19 infection rate in Nigeria. The devices are to be used by case managers for data capturing and case reporting at the isolation centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
While commenting on the novel gesture, Mr. Caden Yu, Managing Director, Samsung Nigeria said: “This is an essential part of Samsung’s strategy to support Nigeria on its mission to curb the infection rate and flatten the COVID-19 growth curve. Our thoughts are with every Nigerian and this donation is a way of using our resources to fight this pandemic.”
The Head of Mobile Samsung West Africa, Mr. Adetunji Taiwo who led a delegation to the minister in his office y, presented the items to the government through the minister.
According to a statement by Olujimi Oyetomi, Director, Information, Media & Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Health, Ehanire used the opportunity to express appreciation for the contributions made by individuals and organisations in form of donations of Medicines, Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), to the Federal Ministry of Health for the containment of COVID-19.
The minister said: “Daily, I sit with my team to receive situation reports from states, local governments, treatment centres to see how to review treatments of COVID-19 patients, explaining that part of the challenges they face in doing so, “is the challenge of communication, data reporting, etc.”
He, therefore, revealed that the donation by Samsung and MTN “comes in useful.”He thus expressed appreciation to the management of Samsung and MTN saying, “Nigeria is very grateful and we shall make the best use of the items and integrating them into whatever that we have to improve service delivery”.
