Polaris Bank announces new leadership, names Kassim Gidado as Chairman

Polaris Bank has unveiled a new Board of Directors, marking a crucial step in the bank’s ongoing efforts to achieve long-term growth and provide exceptional value to its stakeholders. The Board, led by Dr. Kassim Gidado as Chairman, consists of ten members who bring a wide range of expertise and experience.
These appointments highlight Polaris Bank’s dedication to strengthening its position as a leading digital bank in Nigeria. The new board members possess extensive knowledge and leadership skills, which will play a key role in advancing the bank’s strategic goals.
Commenting on the appointments, Kayode Lawal, the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), expressed confidence that the broad expertise of the new board members would greatly enhance the bank’s ongoing efforts to solidify its role as a top digital bank.

Dr. Gidado, the new Chairman, is an academic with over 35 years of experience in engineering, project management, and strategic development. His distinguished career includes serving as Group Managing Director and Chief of Staff at MAG Group Limited, as well as advising government bodies and industry leaders on strategic and policy matters.
Other non-executive directors include Dr. Akwa Effiong Okon, Mallam Ambursa Abubakar Umar, Mrs. Ayaba M. Ayo-Joseph, Mrs. Giwa-Amu Subulade Ibironke, and Dr. Onosode Christopher. Their expertise spans fields such as law, finance, business transformation, and real estate investment.
The Executive Management Team, led by Managing Director/CEO Mr. Kayode Lawal, is further strengthened by Mr. Chris Ofikulu, Executive Director of Retail and Commercial; Mrs. Abimbola Ozomah, Executive Director of Corporate & Investment Banking; and Mr. Sharafadeen Muhammed, Executive Director of Operations.
