Pernod Ricard’s Responsib’All Day drives circularity, sustainability efforts

Pernod Ricard, a global wine and spirit group recently celebrated its annual Responsib’All Day, dedicating a day to championing circularity and sustainability initiatives.

In a statement posted on LinkedIn by Sola Oke, its Managing Director for Africa, over 20,000 employees worldwide participated in this year’s edition which primarily focused on driving circularity in their value chains and local communities.

The event was said to have highlighted the company’s commitment to a greener economy, with significant involvement from the Pernod Ricard African team.

Oke revealed that the South African teams visited local glass recycling plants to learn firsthand about minimizing waste and enhancing the circularity of glass, a 100% recyclable material.

Some of the activities embarked upon included a glass-blowing demonstration, showcasing the transformation of recyclables into valuable new items. These enriching experiences aimed to foster a deeper understanding and commitment to sustainable practices among employees.

Across other African affiliates, including Nigeria and Kenya, Pernod Ricard teams engaged in environmental clean-ups and created goods from recyclable materials, promoting sustainability in diverse ways.

These activities underscored the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and community engagement.

A notable highlight of the day was a discussion in South Africa that featured Ben Ojwang, Pamela Nkuna, and Shabeer Jhetam, CEO of The Glass Recycling Company.

They all shared insights on embedding circularity throughout Pernod Ricard’s value chain to support a more sustainable economy. The discussion also emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovative thinking in driving sustainability initiatives.

The success of Responsib’All Day was a testament to the dedication and passion of Pernod Ricard’s teams across Africa.

The event did not only provide valuable learning opportunities, but also strengthened the company’s commitment to its sustainability agenda.
