PBAT appoints Egerton-Idehen as MD/CEO NIGCOMSAT

In a bid to improve Nigeria’s satellite communications, digital infrastructure as well as the communication sector, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen as the MD/CEO of Nigeria Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT).
Egerton-Idehen made this known on her X (Twitter) handle, while appreciating the president and Minister of communications for the trusting her with the position.
The post read: “I’m honoured and delighted to share my new role as the MD/CEO, Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT). Thanks to His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu for this appointment. It’s day one again, and I’m committed to improving Nigeria’s satellite communications and digital infrastructure.”
In her new role, she will be working towards improving Nigeria’s satellite communications and digital infrastructure. With the country’s growing population and economy, it is crucial to have a robust and reliable communication network.
She added that NIGCOMSAT has been at the forefront of providing satellite-based solutions for telecommunications, broadcasting, and broadband services. I am eager to lead this organisation towards even greater heights and make a positive impact on the nation.
Expressing her appreciation, the new boss said: “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu for entrusting me with this important role and to the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr ‘Bosun Tijani, who extended the invitation to join his incredible team in delivering the mandate and, whose work I greatly respect. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to my predecessor, Engr. Tukur Mohammed Lawal, for his valuable contributions to NIGCOMSAT. The organization’s journey continues, and I am excited to build on the foundation he has laid.”
She added that, “over two decades ago, I began my career journey as a teleport engineer in a Satellite Communications company. My father always asked about how I could harness this technology to impact the wider community. Fifteen years later, I got the opportunity to manage the West African operations for another satellite company. Now, over two decades later, I’ve come full circle as I have been given an opportunity to contribute to my home country, Nigeria and make a remarkable difference and impact, the highest highlight of my journey so Far.
“I am delighted and honored to share with you that I have been appointed as the MD/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) by the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
“I am eager to collaborate and contribute to the future of NIGCOMSAT. I am also grateful to the board of NIGCOMSAT for their support and confidence in me.
