NIPCO Gas, Femadec partners for gas expansion

NiPCO Gas Limited, a subsidiary of NIPCO Plc., has partnered Femadec Express with the plan to expand gas capacity and extension in Nigeria. NiPCO Gas Ltd is a subsidiary of NIPCO Plc, and has been authorised to install gas infrastructure that could aid the use of natural gas for vehicular fuel and powering of machines by industries.
Taofeeq Lawal, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Affairs, NIPCO, noted that the joint efforts by both companies will boost the numbers of natural gas powered vehicles in Nigeria beyond the present figure of over 7,000.
According to him, this is geared towards encouraging both organisations to leverage on NIPCO Gas capacity and CNG AutoGas distribution network in several states.
Lawal revealed that Ajaokuta, Okene, and Abuja, presently dispense AutoGas to over 7,000 vehicles, while commending the gas outfit as the only Nigerian company that has “State of art” workshops at Benin City, Ibafo and Abuja, for conversion of vehicles to dual fuel usage, as well as an inventory of conversion kits for all makes of vehicles.
“Plans are underway to increase its CNG AutoGas to add 40 AutoGas stations to its footprint. Most of these stations will include workshops for the conversion of vehicles. In the near term, cities such as Lekki – Epe Exp (Lagos), Ibadan, Oron will have similar facilities,” he said.
Femadec Express is wholly owned by the Femadec Group. It is a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered mass transportation and logistics Service Company and it utilises innovative technologies to provide these sustainable services which are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
