Nigel Parsons, TVC CEO quits
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Continental Broadcasting Service Nigeria Limited, owners of TVC News, TVC Entertainment and Radio Continental, Mr. Nigel Parsons, has quit his job.
MARKETING EDGE gathered that Parsons a former Managing Director at Al Jazeera English, could not reach an agreement on a new deal with the media company’s management after his old contract expired by July 2016.
The management of CBS, it was gathered wanted a more resident CEO, who will spend more time in Nigeria, but Parsons did not agree on the demand.
“In a month, Parsons only spent a few days in Nigeria, the rest of the days he was abroad,” one of the staff of the company who didn’t want his name mentioned because he was not authorized to comment on the matter, told MARKETING EDGE.
Parsons have always insisted that his spending more time abroad was in the interest of the company, because it afforded him time to network with key players in the global media industry and facilitate deals needed to consummate CBS’ global vision.
Now CBS is on the hunt for Parsons replacement, and MARKETING EDGE learnt that the current Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mr. Lemi Olalemi, who has worked with Parsons from the onset and is thought to be the natural successor, may not get the job as the management of the company seems to be focusing its searchlight outside the company.
The CEO’s resignation is coming shortly after a report of alleged mass sack and resignation in the company. And one of the notable names who resigned recent is Oba Adeoye who used to anchor The Big Issue on TVC News. He is now the Director, News at LTV 8.
