MultiChoice partners Earthshot Prize to address climate change

MultiChoice has struck a partnership deal with Earthshot Prize, a global environmental initiative to address climate change in Africa.
The announcement was made at an event held on Tuesday where the paid TV platform disclosed its readiness to collaborate with Earthshot Prize to host a Seminar titled: “Tackling Africa’s Climate Change Challenge” in Lagos.
Focusing on discussing sustainable solution for Africa’s environmental challenges, the event had in attendance representatives from Earthshot Prize including its CEO, Hannah Jones, as well as environmental innovators and activists such as Temilade Salami, Olumide Idowu and other stakeholders.
While giving her opening remark, Atinuke Babatunde, Academy Director for West Africa at the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), emphasized the vital role of storytelling in addressing global environmental issues.
She stated, “The Earthshot Prize exemplifies the power of human ingenuity in finding groundbreaking solutions to restore and protect our planet. The MultiChoice Talent Factory embodies this spirit by nurturing creative talent who use their skills to tell powerful stories and drive positive change.
“The climate problem is not a one-person problem. Together, let us be inspired by these pioneering efforts and work tirelessly towards a sustainable and resilient future for all.”
Also in her speech, Hannah Jones, CEO of the Earthshot Prize, underscored the urgency of confronting environmental challenges and highlighted the importance of innovative solutions to safeguard the planet.
“We face an unprecedented urgency to address the environmental challenges threatening our planet. The Earthshot Prize symbolizes our shared commitment to finding and implementing innovative solutions. It is not just an award; it is a call to action.
“Together, we must act swiftly and decisively to restore and protect our natural world. Our future, and the future of generations to come, depends on the choices we make and the actions we take now,” she stated.
The event explored the critical role of the Earthshot Prize in driving environmental change, discussing the integration of technology and community engagement in sustainability solutions. It also addressed potential future opportunities and challenges in the field.
The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William, aims to inspire and support global efforts to repair the planet over the next decade.
It focuses on five key areas: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate, with the goal of transforming pessimism about environmental issues into a hopeful narrative through innovative solutions.
