Idorenyen Enang, new NIMN president commits to building on predecessor’s legacy

The newly elected President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Dr. Idorenyen Enang has pledged his commitment to building on the legacy of his predecessor.

Speaking during an interview with MARKETING EDGE, Dr. Enang enthusiastically affirmed his resolve to pilot the affairs of the Institute in a manner that will reinforce its pride of place in the comity of professional bodies.

According to him, his administration will strengthen the Institute through a well-designed people-centric policies aimed at producing a crop of marketers that can compete favourably in the global arena.

He said: “We shall also work with the Council to ensure that we explore new frontiers and we are going to unleash the power in the people within the marketing community to ensure that marketers find in the Institute a home and place for professionalism and, of course, the external public.”

On how the Institute will contribute to national development under his leadership,  Dr. Enang said the Institute of marketing in response to its role in supporting the ideation around building the country’s image, will lead conversation for initiatives to rebrand the country, adding that the Institute will endeavour to do all that is necessary to make the Nigerian dream come alive.

He said SMEs being the driver of economic growth of any nation will be given topmost priority as his administration is determined to give the required support to SMEs.

Meanwhile, the outgone president, Tony Agenmonmen, has called for more synergy among members and utmost support for the newly elected executive Council in order to move the Institute to an enviable height.

He made this call in his valedictory address during the last Annual General Meeting that witnessed the end of his administration and the emergence of a new leadership under Dr. Enang, after an electronic voting process.

While appreciating members of the Institute for their support in the last four years that had seen him achieve landmark feats as the Institute’s wheel bearer, the outgone president noted that his administration was characterised by doggedness, hard work, innovations and professionalism.

“Calling a spade a spade can be challenging, but that’s what leaders do. We made difficult choices and tough decisions. We were bold and courageous. We did what we had to do. That is what leadership is all about. As president, I received a few knocks, some were angry with me, some even insulted me and abused me, but today, I’m happy and fulfilled at having done my best to set our dear Institute, once again,  on the path of growth and development,” he said.
