GDM Group’s MasterClass emphasises on marketing innovation
Bringing innovative ideas into modern day marketing practice was the central theme of discussions at the maiden edition of the annual MasterClass business forum organised by frontline marketing company, GDM Group.
The one day seminar which held at the prestigious Eko Innovative Centre, situated on Awolowo road, Ikoyi, Lagos was part of commemorative activities marking tenth year anniversary of the marketing firm.
It was a convergence of the who is who in marketing with attendance cutting across notable personalities and stakeholders in Nigeria’s marketing and marketing communications industry sphere.
Speaking on the business theme, “Raising the Bar”, Founder and CEO of the group, Gbenga Victor Afolabi, highlighted the historical background leading to the birth of the marketing firm which commenced operations exactly one decade ago.
Citing the mission and vision behind the company’s phenomenal growth over the years, Afolabi emphasised on the various innovative transformations that has helped to transform the organisation from its earlier traditional base into a modern day data-driven and digital technology firm.
According to him, today’s business world is all about marketing and innovation, and a lot more demand is being placed on the marketing and marketing communications practitioners.
“Marketing is in a transitional era. The world is looking for more predictability and this is about more of data. Innovation is about understanding consumers’ behavior. Innovation is critical because marketing is constantly moving,” he said.
The event featured other prominent resource persons amongst which included Lampe Omoyele, Managing Director/CEO of Nitro 121 Limited, a frontline Nigerian creative agency.
Speaking on the subject, Marketing Strategy, he observed that successful marketing in year 2020 would revolve around five basic questions which includes, ‘what problems the marketing professional would be solving’, ‘What needs the marketing professional would be meeting’ and ‘what want the marketing professional would be creating’.
Other facilitators at the event included Mrs Uquo Ukoh, CEO Entod Marketing and former Marketing Director, Nestle Nigeria Plc who spoke on the topic, ‘Effective Marketing’; Managing Director /CEO X3M Ideas, Steve Babaeko who spoke on the topic, ‘The Gut to WIN’ and Frank Ozekhome, Head, Group Strategy at Insight Redefini who spoke on the topic ‘Trends in Marketing’.
