FAAN commissions 3 conveyor belts to boost passengers’ travel experience
The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commissioned three new ultra-modern carousels, otherwise known as conveyor belts at the D-arrival wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.
Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu said that the new facilities will help in facilitating passengers’ movement at the airport as well enable them to feel comfortable at all times.
Mrs. Yabkubu stressed that the facilities will reduce delays and fast track departure formalities for arriving passengers, noting that the commissioning of the facilities was to keep pace with the growing traffic which has been on the increase since the commencement of the remodeling project.
She also added that the new development will also boost the country’s image given that the airport is usually the first point of contact for visitors coming into the country, it will also enhance passengers’ travel experience.
“The timing of this world class facility is in consonance with the Authority’s readiness to thrill her esteem airport users with a fascinating travel experience especially with the approaching festive season usually associated with increased inbound passengers and luggage” she said.
The carousels were commissioned by Engr. Ephraim Nwodo, General Manager, Mechanical on behalf of the Authority. Before now, airport passengers were subjected to delays running into hours as they try to get their luggage because of the bad conveyor belts which sometimes breakdown at the peak of passengers’ facilitation at the airport.
