The management of Omi Eko Project, Lagos State’s landmark waterway transportation initiative, has appointed Dr. Segun Alabi as head of communications and media.

The appointment is part of efforts to strengthen strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness around the ambitious blue economy initiative designed to transform water transportation across Lagos State.

Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, Dr. Alabi expressed enthusiasm and commitment to the success of the Omi Eko Project.

Before his appointment to the Omi Eko Project, Dr. Alabi served as Assistant Director, Corporate Affairs and Communications at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), where he oversaw corporate communications, public affairs, stakeholder relations, and event management.

His professional journey also includes notable positions such as Head, Corporate Communications at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) where he managed strategic communication for one of Nigeria’s foremost business membership organizations.

He also served as Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager at Pivara Trebjesa AD, part of the AB InBev group, and as Head Communications and Programs at the Institute of Directors Nigeria.

Dr. Alabi’s professional expertise covers reputation management, government relations, corporate social responsibility, public policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and social media strategy.

He is widely regarded within professional circles as a consummate communications expert with a proven ability to manage information strategically to advance organisational objectives.

Dr. Alabi holds a Doctor of Philosophy in English: Language Use and Communication from the University of Lagos, where he specialized in strategic communication. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria.

He is a Certified Public Relations and Strategic Communications Professional with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the Canadian Public Relations Society.
